It aims to produce future teachers with integrated personalities, who can prove as an asset in the national reconstruction. To fulfill the demand of quality teachers for schools, Dev Samaj Managing Council decided to start Dev Samaj Training College for Women in 1942. Dev Samaj Training College for Women, Ferozepur City is the oldest Women Teachers Training College in the whole undivided state of Punjab.

The college offers programmes B.Ed., M.Ed., Post Graduate Diploma in Guidance and Counseling and Ph.D. in Education. The core curriculum of all the programmes also includes practicum/work-based learning. Since the college has to train its students in teaching learning process, it does have a good linkage with the schools in the city. The practice teaching plans are developed in partnership cooperatively involving the school staff and mentor teachers. During teaching practice period, the school subject teachers also observe the lessons of the student teachers. The heads of the schools interact with the students and give overall feedback about the performance of the student during teaching practice.

Rich institutional traditions pertain to an inherent autonomous process, equal opportunities, easy accessibility to the faculty & the Principal and student-centered approach in teaching-learning leads to conducive environment. The institutional goal is to provide holistic education to prospective teachers and to achieve this goal, the objectives of the institution envisage value-oriented education, develop critical capacities, enhance skills and competencies, preserve socio-cultural heritage, and acquaint student teachers with the impact of globalization on education. The institution has a democratic flavor at all the levels of its working. The students are active participants in the decision-making processes. There is an adequate student representation in various administrative bodies ensuring collaborative working.

The college encourages a gamut of extra-curricular activities at state, regional and national levels for the overall development of the students. Prospective teachers are given ample opportunity to participate in co-curricular activities. This includes University level, Zonal & Inter Zonal Youth festivals, University level Zonal and Inter Zonal Skill-in-Teaching competitions, inter college competition and various competitions organized within the institute. Sports and Physical Training are compulsory as part of overall development of the personality
